Why the rules in Canada is so complicated?? No family expected to have their children disabled. Disabled doesn't mean not perfect!

Paul Chapman, his wife Barbara-Anne and their children Jack, 16, and Lucy, seven, were excited about setting up home on a two-acre plot in Nova Scotia.

But their dreams were shattered by an immigration official who announced they could not enter the country because Lucy has a disability.

I support the Canadian Government's decision in this case.Her condition sounds a lot like downs syndrome. It may not require special medication today but who knows what advances the medical community will make and what those furture drugs, or more likely, therapy will cost. We still do not cover the intensive therapy that the parents of children with downs are lobbying for. And those people are Canadian citizens. Because we have a socialized medical system we cannot afford to accept immigrants who could be a major financial drain on our public system.
