Openmoko: Linux to Go

Tired of your mobile's interface? Want to astound your friends with your custom mobile software and be the hit of cocktail parties? Now you can! The Openmoko Linux-driven handset is about to hit the market, albeit not cheaply. I'll be anxious to see what early adopters think of this thing- while not a Linux developer myself, I like the idea of having more control over my phone than I do now, without having to break it.

Anyone fond of creating their own applications within a open source environment will soon be able to get mobile. Openmoko has finally announced the launch date of its Neo FreeRunner open-source phone.
That launch date is tomorrow. The phone will ship with only core functionality, i.e. dialling, contacts, and messaging, along with tools for developers to create their own mobile applications. The phone has no camera, though.
