Teens Busted for Bombs, Blame the Game

Kids are not stupid. When they see that you can blame a parent-unfriendly video game in hopes of getting a lesser sentence, then they will do so. In this case, theree teens went on a petrol-bomb spree, and then blamed Grand Theft Auto IV as the source of their bomb-making knowledge.

Last month, the trio – all aged between 15 and 16, and as such may not be named – allegedly firebombed three cars in North Fulton County, Georgia with homemade petrol bombs. Each weapon was made from a bottle filled with a lighter fluid, with a rag stuffed into the spout as a fuse.

According to a report by local news service WSBTV, the trio were arrested by local police. When they were question, it's claimed, the kids said they’d learned "how to do it" from GTA.

Of course, there is no bomb-making in GTA IV; the only fabrication is on the part of the three bombers:

Of course, as the article notes, the Molotov Cocktails in GTA IV come pre-assembled -- so perhaps it's not exactly to blame. Won't stop adult outrage over the game, though. And that's probably just what the kids want, as it takes some of the responsibility off of them.
Next time you get a speeding ticket, contest it in court and blame Midnight Club 3.

jordan, I like this story. It's good stuff.

I should have known that, next time I rent a car a get a speeding ticket or drive in one way street the wrong way, I will take the advice and blame it on some video flick or game!

Maybe not, Japanese Police do not have a good sense of humour these days!

It is getting ridiculous how much teens are starting to blame Grand Theft Auto for their wrong doings. I've played Grand Theft Auto loads of times, its a wonderful, fun, addictive game. But I don't shoot, I don't steal, I don't do any criminal activities whatsoever. Grand Theft Auto is definently not to blame.

Haha, everyone blames everything on GTA nowadays.  GTAs backend is run by a band of travelling gnomes that want to take over the world, that's why.  True stuff.

Nothing dangerous. Just a little videogame...

These are my babies! GTA does nothing but bring joy! As usual, it's so much easier to blame a video game rather than facing the real issues i.e screwed up parents etc.

jordan, I like this story. It's good stuff. One can not blame these games for the behaviors of people. Television is a lot worse, and commercials are the same. Just take responsibility for your own actions.
