MONTREAL -- 27 arrests in Quebec child porn ring bust

An extensive child pornography ring has been cracked with the arrest of 27 people, Quebec provincial police said Wednesday.

"There was a juvenile pornography network dismantled throughout Quebec," a spokeswoman for the Surete du Quebec, Sgt. Joyce Kemp, said.

The investigation began in the summer of 2006 on the basis of a tip received from German authorities, a police news release said.

"In Quebec, police have conducted 29 raids in different regions," the statement said, noting that the arrested individuals are accused of a range of offences, including accessing, possessing, producing and distributing child pornography.
