Anthrax Investigation Implicates Suicide Researcher

The Justice Department released hundreds of pages of documents related to the deadly attacks, which killed five people and sickened more than a dozen.

Authorities said Ivins committed suicide last week as federal prosecutors prepared to present the results of nearly seven years of investigations to a grand jury.

In an affidavit filed in support of a search warrant, U.S. Postal Inspector Thomas Dellafera said Ivins' laboratory at the U.S. Army Medical Institute of Infectious Diseases "afforded all of the equipment and containment facilities which would have been needed to prepare the anthrax letters used in the fall 2001 attacks."
