US drug trafficker deteined in Venezuela

Caracas, Venezuela, October 11, 2008. Today, central police authorities detained drug trafficker Antonio Pulgar Chacón who claims to have both Venezuelan and American nationalities. Pulgar Chacon is under an international search call made by Interpol. Venezuelan Home Minister, Tarek El Aissami (in photo), complained that the local police of Zulia State, ruled by the opposition, did very little to prevent the arrest of this drug trafficker earlier. The Home Minister also condemned the participation of Zulia local authorities in the protection of Pulgar Chacon.

rahul, I like this story. It's good stuff. Your headline is a little misleading, not by the fact he is American, but for the fact he was arrested in Venezuela and he supposedly have double citzenship , I would say: International Drug Dealer detained in Venezuela, but anyway, good job for the Venezuelans. Will Chavez address this issue tonight on his TV show in a brief 3 hours speech  against  the United Sates?

As it is a well know fact, drug traffickers use different nationalities to commit crimes. That is why the wording of the story states that "drug trafficker Antonio Pulgar Chacón who claims to have both Venezuelan and American nationalities" Claimig is not the same as having it. In this case, Interpol considers Pulgar Chacon as American. Were he to prove a legal Venezuelan nationality, I would imagine that an extradition to US would not be possible. As a Venezuelan he would then be tried locally. But, as an American, he would be extradited at once.

Thans for the GS flag. I am sorry I have no current information on the killings of drug traffickers taking place in the common US-Mexican border.
